    Local crafts and culture

We sustain jobs and cultural diversity by supporting local craft makers and artisans, and promoting cultural attractions.

    Travelling with respect

We work to create good relationships between tourists and the local community

    Highlight key local issues

Overtourism is on the increase, as tourists cluster in popular cities and around iconic sites. In urban areas, overtourism can spoil life for local people and raise prices on local goods and rent - resulting in residents moving away .

In rural places and around UNESCO sites, excessive tourism causes environmental damage, erodes ancient monuments and harms wildlife. The media has pointed the finger at everything from giant cruise ships and Airbnb to a lack of government planning. However, we believe that the real cause of overtourism is the collusion between governments, airlines and cruise ships keeping travel artificially cheap - with tax-exempt aviation fuel being one of the main culprits.

There are some types of holidays that we’ll never sell. We could make more money if we did but they go against our principles for responsible tourism, and we never do that.

Here some examples:

  • Holidays with no responsible tourism policies
  • Mass tourism
  • Large cruise ships
  • Misleading advertising
  • Services and products with no realistic value
  • Gready hosts

Homeowners usually take great pride in their holiday home being labeled as ‘luxury’. But what determines whether a villa is luxurious or not? Is it defined by a universal set of villa rental standards? Or is it all to do with guest experiences and villa property reviews?

Luxury may seem subjective but there are objective guidelines and checks villa owners can follow. Likewise, while each guest has their own concept of a luxurious stay, there are broad expectations which apply.

Holidaymakers may favor one luxury villa over another for a variety of their own reasons. Personal taste is a major factor, as well as what type of holiday the guests are looking for, where and with whom.
